Undergraduate Degree Requirements

The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures does not have a separate Egyptology degree program, but undergraduates may use courses in the Ancient Egyptian language to fulfill the language requirements of the undergraduate major in Near Eastern Languges and Cultures. For the Culture Track, students must complete four semesters of Egyptian language, and complete seven additional courses in Near Eastern Languages and Cultures, chosen with the consent of the undergraduate advisor; these courses do not all have to be in Egyptian history and culture. For the Language Track, students take six semsters of Ancient Egyptian language, and at least five additional courses chosen with the consent of the undergraduate advisor. Students must also complete the degree requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Undergraduates who wish to officially major in Egyptology are invited to contact the program advisor to discuss the possibility of an individualized major.
